Thunder the Horse

Khalil Khaled (LilO)
Description

This image shows Thunder, a scene from the Palestinian film "Anat" by the young director Ibrahim Fino. It was captured while I was working on lighting design and cinematography for the scene. The shot was taken in an abandoned site in the West Bank, waiting for the precise moment sunlight pierced through broken windows, due to the lack of professional cinema equipment, using an old smoke machine to shape the light and highlight the texture of the space.

At the same time, I am filming my own documentary that documents Palestinian art, theatrical and cinematic performances, and artistic events across cities and refugee camps in the West Bank. This image is one of the results of my work while documenting these experiences, capturing moments of light and movement under challenging production conditions, reflecting artistic resilience and creativity amid war and resource scarcity.
